Premium Data program upgrade - September 2, 2019

This automatic upgrade is to version 3.10.1.

The upgrade has 2 main purposes: Firstly, it facilitates a new structure for the daily update files so that they can carry longer security symbols. Secondly, it incorporates new routines to speed up extraction of update files from a zip archive. After an upgrade to Windows 10, some customers were reporting that updates to Custom Folder lists were taking minutes to complete rather than seconds.

Other significant changes in the upgrade are -

  1. The Backup/Restore Data utility has been removed from the Maintenance page. This utility lacked the ability to perform incremental back-ups, and therefore offered an inferior solution to using Windows Backup or other 3rd-party backup utilities.
  2. A flag has been added to prevent updates to a history more than 6 months out-of-date. Only the last 6 months of update files are retained on our data servers, but the previous program version allowed attempts to obtain older (non-existent) update files, which left a gap in the user's data.
  3. For subscribers to ASX stocks, the \Stocks\ASX\Equities folder will now keep tickers that begin with a number in the \Equities\0-9 sub-folder.
